Habitat and Description: In herbaceous vegetation (forb-dominated "grassland") on very shallow stony clay or clay loam on slightly convex upper edge of steep slope of Cretaceous limestone (Kiamichi Formation). Associates include Allium drummondii, Asclepias asperula, Bouteloua hirsuta, Castilleja purpurea, Ceanothus herbaceus, Cymopterus macrorhizus, Engelmannia pinnatifida, Eriogonum longifolium, Erioneuron pilosum, Hordeum pusillum, Liatris mucronata, Linum rigidum, Lupinus texensis, Muhlenbergia reverchonii, Oenothera brachycarpa, Physaria densiflora, Plantago patagonica, Schizachyrium scoparium, Scutellaria wrightii, Senna roemeriana, Silphium albiflorum, Valerianella amarella, Yucca pallida. Annual. Disk and ray florets yellow. Common.
