Habitat and Description: In wetland herbaceous vegetation on moist to wet sandy soils over hardpan, broad level area at upper edge of floodplain. Major or conspicuous components of wetland in general vicinity (within 500 ft.) included Apios americana, Cyperus virens, Eleocharis tortilis, Hibiscus lasiocarpos, Hydrocotyle ranunculoides, Juncus effusus, Ludwigia decurrens, L. palustris, Mikania scandens, Morella cerifera, Ptilimnium capillaceum, Rhexia mariana, Rhynchospora corniculata, Sacciolepis striata, Sesbania macrocarpa, Triadenum sp., Woodwardia virginica, Zizaniopsis miliacea. Shrub to 1.5 m tall. Petals white, rose-purple toward base. Rare. Area burned during Bastrop Complex Wildfire of September 2011.
