Habitat and Description: In blackland prairie on heavy clay Vertisols (Freeis series), in large opening in loblolly pine forest on lower slope. Associates include Iva angustifolia, Paspaplum floridanum, Grindelia squarrosa, Bothriochloa saccharoides, Andropogon glomeratus, A. virginicus, Rudbeckia hirta, Eustoma grandiflorum, Verbena xutha, and Sporobolus asper. Common.
