Habitat and Description: In loose sandy soil over clayey sediments of the Calvert Bluff Formation (Eocene), in formerly cultivated field (large clearing in post oak woodlands) now grown up in native weeds. Associates include Ambrosia trifida, Andropogon ternarius, Aristida longespica, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Croton capitatus, Conyza canadensis, Eragrostis secundiflora, Eupatorium serotinum, Gaillardia aestivalis, Helenium amarum, Ipomaea trichocarpa, Iva angustifolia, Monarda punctata, Palofoxia rosea, Paspalum plicatulum, Prosopis glandulosa, Prunus angustifolia, Rubus trivialis, Schizachyrium scoparium, Solidago gigantea, Sorphum halepense, Sporobolus asper, and Vitis mustangensis. Common.
