On edge of mixed woodland on lower slope of shallow resaca, on soils mapped as deep, moderately well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline, silty clay Vertic Ustifluvents (Matamoras Series). Associates included Ampelopsis arborea, Celtis laevigata, Sabal mexicana. Common.
