Habitat and Description: In shade of live oak motte on soils mapped as shallow, well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline silty clay (Doss Series, Typic Calciustolls) on very gently sloping upland underlain by Glen Rose Limestone. Associates included Berberis trifoliolata, Bouchetia erecta, Carex planostachys, Diospyros texana, Eriochloa sericea, Galium virgatum, Juniperus ashei (mostly removed), Matelea reticulata, Nassella leucotricha, Quercus fusiformis, Rubus trivialis, Schizachyrium scoparium, Silybum marianum, Smilax bona-nox. Common.
