Habitat and Description:
In herbaceous vegetation in large opening (formerly cultivated field?) in live oak woodlands on soils mapped as shallow, well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline silty clay (Doss Series, Typic Calciustolls), on nearly level upland underlain by Glen Rose Limestone. Associates included Aristida purpurea, Asclepias asperula, Bothriochloa ischaemum, Cirsium texanum, Croton monanthogynus, Evax verna, Glandularia bipinnatifida, Limnodea arkansana, Physaria sp., Silybum marianum, Vicia ludoviciana. Annual; rays orange-yellow, disks red-brown; common.
