Habitat and Description: In grassland component of live oak - post oak savanna / woodland on level topography underlain by clayey Pleistocene terrace deposits, on soils mapped as very deep, moderately well drained Oxyaquic Vertic Haplustalfs (Wilson Series) with a surface layer of slightly acid, dark brown clay loam. Associates included Acacia farnesiana, Ambrosia psilostachya, Aristida oligantha, Croton capitatus, Helenium amarum, Hypericum drummondii, Ilex vomitoria, Juniperus virginiana, Paspalum notatum, Poncirus trifoliata, Prosopis glandulosa, Quercus nigra, Quercus stellata, Q. virginiana, Rosa bracteata, Rubus trivialis, Sporobolus indicus, Symphyotrichum ericoides. Common.
