Habitat and Description: In rotationally-grazed grassland on slope high on gently rolling landscape underlain by Miocene clay and sandstone of Fleming Formation, on soils mapped as moderately deep, well drained sandy clay loam Udic Calciustolls (Carbengle Series). Associates included Allium drummondii, Arnoglossum plantaginea, Asclepias viridis, Bifora americana, Cirsium horridulum, Engelmannia pinnatifida, Eustoma grandiflorum, Galium virgatum, Hymenopappus tenuifolius, Indigofera miniata, Krameria lanceolata, Liatris sp., Limnodea arkansana, Lindheimera texana, Lupinus texensis, Marshallia cespitosa, Monarda citriodora, Neptunia lutea, Oenothera speciosa, Penstemon cobaea, Penstemon cobaea, Polygala alba, Polytaenia texana, Schrankia sp., Solidago rigida, Stenaria nigricans, Valerianella radiata. Rays present, reddish orange; occasional.
