Habitat and Description: In opening in post oak - live oak woodland on level to slightly convex upland underlain by Pleistocene gravel, sand, silt and clay of the Willis Formation. Associates included Asclepias asperula, Baptisia bracteata, Bigelowia nuttallii, Calylophus sp., Castilleja indivisa, Chaetopappa sp., Chamaecrista sp., Dalea aurea, Engelmannia peristenia, Fimbristylis puberula, Indigofera miniata, Linum hudsonioides, Lupinus texensis, Matelea biflora, Phyllanthus polygonoides, Polygala alba, Schrankia sp., Scleria ciliata, Stenaria nigricans. Perennial; disks maroon.
