Locality: United States, Texas, VAL VERDE, 30 mi. N of Del Rio, 13 mi. S of Loma Alta. Elev. 1500 ft.
Habitat and Description: Shallow rocky soil on limestone; Cedarbrake. Associated plants: Juniperus monosperma, Rhus virens, Acacia, Dasylirion, Diospyros texana, Yucca, Opuntia, Euphorbia spathulata. Height: 10-20 ft. D.B.H.: 6 in. Rare and local. Very many male cones. Rounded spreading crown. Trunk straight. Needles 2. Bark gray to blackish, becoming scaly plates.
