Locality: United States, Texas, BREWSTER, Alpine, Campus of Sul Ross State College, 50 m. N of gate to US 90. Elev. 4481 ft.
Habitat and Description: Open, sloping ground. Dark brown volcanic soil, somewhat modified by culture. Most common planting on campus. Tree 8 m. Basal diam., 35 cm. Crown diam., 5 m., at 2 m. from ground, narrowing above. Upright, much branched, branches somewhat pendant. Male cones bright orange-yellow. Female cones brown and hard. Bark smooth, red-brown, with thin, curling exfoliating layer.
