Habitat and Description:
Semi-open forest, on ground w. litter and under brush. Sand w. much litter. Assoc. Liquidambar-Pinus taeda-Quercus spp.-Ilex vom. complex, with Cornus florida, Callicarpa, Rhanmus sp. This sp. very common on ground. Annual and perennial herb, 0.7-1 m. Clumped, upright. Green spikes, arching backwards from main culm.
