Habitat and Description: Ditch bank at railway right of way. Sand w. some clay. Assoc. grasses, various herbs. Perennial herb, 1.5-1.8 m. Form dense clumps that stand as tussocks above soil. Conspicuous reddish-brown glumes. Very abundant at roadsides and railway rights of way in Houston.
