Locality: United States, Texas, Brewster, Black Gap Wildlife Refuge up-stream from Big Canyon (a tributary of Rio Grande) on the Rio Grande.
Habitat and Description: Alluvial soil on margins of ephemeral streambed; gravel derived from igneous rock and from limestone, mixed. Associates Prosopis, Tamarix, Hymenoclea, Cynodon, Sphaeralcea, Dyssodia, Chilopsis.
